“An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is one proverb that everyone is aware of but how many of us know that apple’s vinegar form adds more potential benefits to your body than the benefits of a whole apple?

Well, apples have many well-known health benefits. Apple consumption every day can improve the intestinal environment. It contains phytochemicals that act as antioxidants. Vinegar form of this fruit is commonly known as Apple cider vinegar (ACV) which is a concentrated liquid.

The process of making this vinegar involves crushing of apples with added yeast. The sugar content in it ferments into alcohol which is then converted into acetic acid by bacteria.  Panic not! It’s nothing but friendly bacteria, enzymes, and strands of proteins.

You may already have a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar in your kitchen, but you may not know its beneficial health effects. Below are some of the important effects on human health.

Balances blood sugar level

Acetic acid in the ACV slows down the conversion process of complex carbs into the bloodstream thereby lowering blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of developing diabetes.

Helps normalize body weight

Adding ACV to your diet can help you lose weight especially belly fat. It also suppresses further fat build up in the body as it appears to have an anti-obesity effect.

Digestion and Acid Reflux

An imbalanced level of pH level in the body is the main cause of acid reflux and heartburn. ACV promotes alkalinity by balancing the pH level in the body. Despite its acidic taste it can reduce the risk of chronic illnesses like cancer and can dramatically increase your energy.

Promotes Skin health

ACV promotes your skin health, as the pH level in it is an excellent remedy for skin problems. It can also be used as a toner but make sure you dilute it before you apply on the skin as it can cause breakout on sensitive skin.

Diluted ACV on the skin can reduce age spots and acne. Moisturize your skin after you are done washing face for best results.

Conditions hair

ACV is in rich in vitamins A and C which are essential for hair growth. It is a great natural hair conditioner and also gives a shiny appearance to your hair. This helps restore the pH levels of the scalp but can cause irritation on the sensitive scalp as it may dry out and cause breakage.
