Scholar about Arab men and Anti-Impotent drugs

A specialist on Middle Eastern sexuality claims that due to the dominant culture, young Arab males are turning to erectile dysfunction drugs.

Egyptian-British writer Shereen El Feki, author of Sex and the Citadel: Intimate Life in a Changing Arab World, said, “The rationale may speak to a wider challenge young Arab men are confronting.”

According to Ms. El Feki, who responded to the findings of a significant UN-sponsored study on gender equality in the Middle East conducted in 2017, almost all male participants were worried about the future and the upcoming generation. Women emphasized ‘how males are not men anymore’ while many men discussed the immense burden of being a man.

Although using drugs for sexual purposes may be seen as a modern phenomenon in Arab nations, using aphrodisiacs has long been a component of Arab popular culture.

Arab Men Vs Anti Impotency Drugs

Numerous studies have found that the use of medications like sildenafil (marketed as Viagra), vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn), and tadalafil by young Arab men drugs has increased.

Al-Fankoush, the anti-impotence medication, first emerged as a chocolate bar in Egyptian grocery stores in 2014. Al-Fankoush was purchased for one Egyptian pound. After local media claimed that it had been supplied to kids, security officials quickly stopped the distribution of Al-Fankoush and detained its creator.

It is well known that elderly men take anti-impotence medications more frequently than younger men. But according to data from Yemen’s ministry of health, men between the ages of 20 and 45 use them most frequently.

Rabia al-Habashi, a herbalist who owns a pharmacy in a notable neighborhood, claims to utilize his impotence cure to “magic mix” at Bab al-Shariah in the center of Cairo (Bab al-Sharia). In Cairo, the capital of Egypt, he has established a reputation for selling aphrodisiacs and all-natural sexual improvements. He claims that during the last five years, he has noticed a shift in his consumers’ tastes. He revealed to the BBC that the majority of males are currently going crazy about the blue pill produced by Western businesses.

Despite all the facts, the majority of young men in Egypt and Bahrain absolutely refuse to utilize or even be aware of medications for erectile dysfunction. Some even avoided discussing the subject because they believed it to be ‘contrary to society’s morals.’ In fact, a 2012 survey found that Egypt has the second-highest per capita consumption of anti-impotence drugs in the Arab world. On this list, Saudi Arabia is first.

In some local media reports, rising divorce rates in Egypt have been linked to couples’ ongoing sexual issues.

Three out of ten Egyptian women, according to the local flibanserin(female viagra) manufacturer, have a poor sex drive.

Leila, who has no medical issues, purchased the medication without a prescription, which is a very normal practise in Egypt where many medications can be purchased without a prescription.

According to Ashraf Al Maraghy, a firm spokesperson, “This treatment is very much needed here – it’s a revolution.”
