Parenting is one of the most challenging and non-rewarding jobs in the world. There is no one way to be a fantastic parent. It depends on your individual opinions, family, kid’s need and so on. Successful parenting means ‘not trying too hard’. It’s not about being perfect because no one is perfect. You are a fantastic parent if you make decisions that are best for your child. Appreciate yourself if you are trying to teach them good and bad habits, coping up with life, and so on. According to a survey, 83% of parents agree that parenting can be learned. In this blog, we have curated some of the practical ways to ease parenting.

1. Be a Role Model

The best way to teach a kid is to show them. Kids learn by imitating you. They copy your actions and understand the words you speak. Kids what their parents and learn to do things on their own. If you want your kids to have positive behaviour and attitude, you need to be a role model in teaching them.

2. Show Your Love

Your love will never spoil them. Cuddle them, talk to them, kiss them more often and tell them how much you love them. Spending time with them, having family meals together, and listening to them is also a form of love. Showing acts of love releases happy hormones such as oxytocin that develop a close relationship with you.

3. Praise Them Appropriately

When you notice your child doing something, praise them. Say to them ” You’re great”. Every child deserves positive feedback for the things they do. Thank them and praise them to reinforce good behaviour.

4. Have a Positive Interaction

Kids need a lot of positivity. You need to allow them to experience it. Take them out, go for a walk, or talk to them about the good things around the world. The more positive experiences you create, the happier your kids will be.

5. Keep up with their Health

From vaccines to dental visits, ensure your kid gets the good medical assistance they need. You need to ensure they are in a safe and healthy environment. Talk to them about healthy eating and fitness. Make sure they follow healthy habits and live in a safe environment.

6. Positive Discipline

Set some kind of limitations for your kids. To be a fantastic parent, you need to be kind and not harsh. Kids love positive discipline and they do not lend their ears to loud commands. If your kid misbehaves, focus on the reason without yelling at them. Learn from them and encourage them to do what’s right without harming them.

7. Teach Social Skills

Acknowledge your kid’s emotions. Ask them how they feel. Take them to places they love. Ask them questions. Allow them to play with their friends and neighbours. Listing to them and allowing them to do what they love is the best way to help any kid.

8. Teach Gratefulness

Show your kid how to become a responsible person when they grow up. Talk to them about how good people react and talk. When you read a story, tell them about the goodness of every character. It’s the role of every fantastic parent to teach gratefulness to young kids.

9. Don’t Stress about Food

If your child rejects a food, offer something else. Do not force them to eat something they don’t like. Instead, tell them the benefits they would gain by eating the food. Eat at least one family meal every day. Once in a while, allow your kid to place an order.

10. Encourage Independence

Allow your kids to be able to take care of them on their own. Whether it’s homework, making friends, or doing a craft, ask them to manage tasks on their own.

11. Apologies for Your Mistakes

Teach them to accept responsibility and apologize to them if they make a mistake. They learn from you. So, set an example. Teach them the power of sorry and make them understand it better.

12. Provide Emotional Security

Always be there for your kid. Whether they are a toddler, teen, or a grown-up adult, you need to be there for them. They should find emotional security and support from you. Whenever they feel insecure, you need to talk to them and give them the strength to handle things on their own.

13. Pay Attention to Your Needs

Lastly, you need to take care of your own well-being too. Take care of your health, strengthen your relationship, and rejuvenate your mind. Listen to your brain and body signs and do what’s best for you. Parenting is hard down the line, do not forget your needs.

Parenting is one of the most researched fields in psychology. Every parent and every child are different. So, there’s no right or wrong way of doing it. Believe in yourself and do what’s right for you and your kid. Because you are a fantastic parent already.
