In order to be productive in work, one must prioritize one’s mental health. The experience of extreme pressure and anxiety can destroy an individual’s quality of work. So to prioritize your mental health (Family and Medical Leave Act) FMLA covers your stress leave: you can take an extended period of time off.

The Family and Medical Leave Act entitles eligible employees to take unpaid and guaranteed job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if the employee had not taken leave. The employees are provided with up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave every year for the reasons below:

  • Childbirth and to take care of the newborn child they are given one year
  • To care for the employee’s child, spouse or parents in case of a serious health condition
  • the placement with the employee of a child for adoption or foster care and to care for the newly placed child within one year of placement
  • To take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of some health issue

This stress leave is applicable for employees who have worked for their employers for at least a year or at least 1,250 hours over the past 12 months.

In order to be eligible for these medical leave, you must provide the necessary documents to show that you are having a health issue problem. If the employee’s depression and anxiety are categorized under chronic condition, it will be notified by the FMLA. If you are going through anxiety related problems then you must discuss this with your physician. And you can always meet with your employers for your use of FMLA.

The medical leave will be permitted only if the employee worked for at least a year in their respected company.
