Newsweek is a famous American weekly news magazine. Newsweek recently released its list of “The world’s best hospitals 2021” in collaboration with Statista Inc, a global market research and consumer data company. Newsweek magazine has spent nearly nine decades covering all aspects of health care. A total of 2000 hospitals from 25 countries were selected based on recommendations from medical professionals and medical journalists. For the assessment, the panel used data from three sources. This survey was calculated based on the hospital total score.

  1. Hospital recommendation from medical experts, physicians, hospital managers, and healthcare professionals (55% of total score)
  2. Patients experience (15% of to total score)
  3. Medical performance metrics (30% of total score)

Statista Inc used this data to rank the best hospitals within each country and an overall list of top 200 hospitals worldwide. It is said that the top 100 hospitals were ranked by “the number of international recommendations received in the survey and their national rank.” And the following 100 hospitals were ranked as “the next best hospitals in each country.” It is sorted alphabetically because the data is too heterogeneous between countries to allow for further cross-country comparisons.”
