How to Lose Weight While Traveling

Losing and gaining weight is one of the most common concerns among travelers. But traveling is not the time to focus on keeping your body fit and healthy. If you want to lose weight while traveling maintaining a steady diet will be very tough. There is far too much good food on the streets to taste and a lot of adventures to see. Your diet can go from a somewhat decent meal to a coffee and a doughnut in no time. And before you know it, your weight starts to rise.

Tips to Lose Weight While Traveling

1. Hydration

When you are traveling, you will be roaming around a lot. The new climate change, time, walking. So while planning a trip, keep in mind to drink plenty of water, bring along your own water bottle. Most importantly flying will be very dehydrating, the low humidity and re-circulating air within the cabin are set for dehydration. You should drink as much water as possible during travel and make sure to drink 8 ounces of water every hour of the flight.

2. Sleep

“So much to do, so little time”. When we are traveling, we simply can’t find free time. Because there will be so much to explore, so many tourist spots, hilltops, trekking places and much more. So sleep whenever you can. The right amount of sleep is very important for our health.

3. Fill Your Days with Activities

Don’t be a lazy person on a trip. Don’t simply stop with just wandering, be energetic and enthusiastic. Involve yourself in activities like river rafting, paragliding, swimming, etc. These types of activities will keep your energy level up and you will be up for anything that comes your way.

4. You Are What You Eat

“You are what you eat”. There are inexpensive and mouth watery foods all over the place that will be tempting you to take a bite. But considering your health and fitness look away from them.  

Breakfast is a very significant meal of the day. Consume high protein breakfast so that you can feel energetic throughout the day. A plate full of veggie salad with fruit slices is delicious and also satisfying. Before you head out, pack some fruit slices and a bottle of water, by doing so you can lose weight while traveling.

5. Don’t Miss Basic Workouts

You don’t always need a gym to workout. Don’t think about the lack of time and equipment to workout. There are a few workouts that can be performed anywhere anytime.

  • Push-ups
  • Pull-ups
  • Squats
  • Weightlift
  • Running

Search for a nearby park to do Pull-ups, you can do it with tree branches and Push-ups can be performed anywhere. Squats are one of the best exercises you can perform squats without external weights.

Running is another simple but stimulating exercise, just go for a run around a nearby park whenever you can. Performing any of these exercises every day or twice a week is sufficient to avoid weight gain.
