Health benefits of dates

Dates are one of the sweetest fruits and come in many different varieties.  They are loaded with important and healthy nutrients that are good for any health-conscious individual.

Although dates can be eaten fresh, the fruit is very often dried. But whether fresh or dry, the health benefits of dates are still just as plentiful.

They are one of the sweetest fruits in existence that can also be a great alternative for white sugar. Several necessary anti-oxidants are also found in dates that are beneficial for the human body. They are also high in some important nutrients and have a variety of advantages and uses.

Here are some other benefits of eating dates,

Rich in nutrients

Dates have an abundance of copper, fiber, manganese, potassium, magnesium, and vitamin B6. They also contain good amounts of vitamins A, and K, and the carotenes, lutein, and zeaxanthin.

They are also high in fiber, which is very beneficial for helping your body remove toxins in an easy and effective manner.

 

Reduce Blood Pressure

Dates are rich in magnesium and potassium which lower blood pressure levels. One date contains 167mg of potassium which is relatively higher compared to other fruits. These minerals help with the proper workings of the heart and help lower blood pressure.

 

Improve heart health

High level of potassium in dates makes it a superfood for a healthy heart as well. Soak them overnight and eat them first in the morning as it reduces the risk of stroke and other heart-related diseases.

Dates also contain isoflavones which are found to be the second-highest of any fruit and is known to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

 

Improves bone health

Dates can work wonders for your bone health. They are rich in minerals such as selenium, manganese, copper, and magnesium which help in strengthening bones especially when you begin to age and your bones gradually weaken. It also prevents conditions like osteoporosis.

 

Promote weight gain

Gaining weight is as hard as losing weight!

A study observed 30% of weight gain on the consumption of ground date seed, so if you are looking to gainweight, dates could be one of the additions to your diet. Lukewarm milk with honey-soaked dates at night shows the best results for weight gain.

 

Balance Iron levels

Dates are full of iron and hence an excellent source to balance iron levels in anemic patients. Anemia is more widespread among women as a result of Western diet culture.  Adding dates to your everyday diet will boost your energy level and ultimately increase your overall energy and strength.
