Can You Get Diabetes by Eating Too Much Sugar?

There are two types of diabetes type 1 and type 2. Sugar can be one of the reasons behind getting type 1 diabetes, whereas type 2 diabetes is an effect of obesity which could be caused by a lot of sugar intake. This proves that sugar causes diabetes and has direct and indirect links to type 1 and type 2 diabetes that affects the body's ability to control blood glucose levels. As a result, countries having a lot of sugar in their food supplies are found to be having maximum diabetes when compared to other countries.

All carbohydrates affect your blood glucose levels. In which sugar is the kind of carbohydrate which affects it more than anything.

In order to keep your blood sugar level in control, you must

  • Keep your daily carbs intake in control
  • Drink a lot of water and stay hydrated
  • Eat foods which are rich in protein, fiber, chromium, and magnesium
  • Stay active by exercising regularly
  • Get quality sleep
  • Stay stress-free.

These might help to control your blood glucose levels. Even though sugar is the main reason behind diabetes there are other factors that can cause diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes: Causes

Type 1 diabetes is a condition in which our immune system destroys insulin-making cells in our pancreas. It is also called juvenile diabetes, it occurs in children and young people. This is one type of chronic medical condition

Type 2 Diabetes: Causes

Apart from lifestyle and genetics type 2 diabetes can also be due to obesity or when your body becomes resistant to insulin. This affects the way your body processes blood glucose levels. Type 2 diabetes is more common and serious than type one.

Diabetes is the root cause of cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, damage to kidneys, nerves and blood vessels, eye damage, foot damage, skin problems, and a lot more. Diabetes has no age limit and has been rapidly rising during the past few decades. As high levels of sugar intake are the heart of diabetes we might want to cut out sugar from our diet because sugar causes diabetes.
