U.S Most Likely to Reach COVID-19 Free by the Mid of 2021

Dr. Antony Fauci, the nation’s senior official for infectious disease says that the U.S will reach herd immunity by spring 2021. ‘That is a historic, unprecedented achievement’ Fauci added by stating that vaccines usually take 10 to 15 years to develop but operation warp speed made it to more faster. He ended by stating that “I will get vaccinated myself publicly to essentially put aside the concern that some people have about safety and about whether we went too fast, which we did not”

What Is Operation Warp Speed (OWS)

Operation warp speed is a public-private collaborative initiative by the U.S government and its main motto is to produce and distribute 300 million doses of effective vaccines across the country. The OWS has partnerships with various health departments for the production and distribution of safe and effective vaccines to attain herd immunity. At the initial stage, the vaccines will be given to 6.4 million doses to cities, states, and to all federal agencies and later the count will gradually increase.

Herd Immunity

Herd immunity is also called a herd community. It means a particular population can be protected from a virus if the threshold of vaccines is reached. If enough people are vaccinated then it’s more likely to reach herd immunity. Dr. Fauci says that to reach true herd immunity 70- 80 percent of Americans should have to get vaccinated. To get rid of masks, social distancing, and a sanitizer, we must get vaccinated.

How Herd Immunity Works

When you vaccinate a certain population the rest who is unable to get the vaccines will be protected. By the end of march or april, the vaccines will be injected into all healthy men and women across the country. If this goes according to the plan we’ll reach herd immunity by the end of spring, Says Dr.Fausi. To limit control and to stop spreading the Coronavirus, vaccines are made rapidly.

How Vaccination Works

COVID-19 is new to us and we have not experienced it before. This vaccine will trigger your immunity and create antibodies that help humans to fight against COVID-19

Drawback

Without a vaccine, herd immunity cannot be achieved. Reaching herd immunity has its own drawbacks; there is a chance that it  might be less powerful over time which results in revaccination and on the other hand, there are some people who fear of getting vaccinated and skeptical about it

Who Can’t Get Vaccinated

  • If you have active COVID-19, you should wait until you recover
  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19, You should complete your quarantine before getting your vaccine
  • If you have allergies, you should consult a doctor
  • If you have any other medical issues
  • If you’re pregnant or trying to get pregnant
  • Children below 16

Achieving herd immunity through vaccination is not an easy task. People should join hands with the government and get vaccinated to fight against COVID-19.
