Shocking Vaping Facts You Need to Know

Vaping is the action of inhaling and exhaling vapor that contains nicotine, flavorings, and other chemicals. Vaping devices are battery-operated devices. This e-cigarette device was created by a Chinese inventor named Hon Lik. Hedesigned the device in order to help smokers quit smoking after the death of his father due to lung cancer.

People use the device to inhale the vapor containing nicotine, flavorings, and some chemicals. They resemble tobacco cigarettes or traditional pipes. The same devices are available along with refillable tanks, which slightly differ from the designs. Regardless of the appearance and core design, the operation and components are the same in both devices.

Trending in the modern era

More than 450 e-cigarette brands are currently available to people in the market. These vapes are replacing conventional smoking slowly. Some people believe that it is trendy and safer than normal cigarettes.. Well, in both cases it is not good for your health. There is no doubt about the harmful effects of vaping.

How does it work?

The device consists of a battery that helps an atomizer to work. The atomizer heats and then vaporizes the chemicals inside the device. This vapor is inhaled through the mouthpiece. It is under doubt that this vapor is less harmful than cigarette smoke.

Effects on oral health

Effects on gums

Nicotine is the main component of cigarettes and vapes. Nicotine can disturb a person’s blood system, resulting in constriction of blood vessels. Along with the increase in the overall blood pressure in the body, it will constrict the blood vessels of the gums. Evidently, blood flow to the gums is not sufficient, resulting in vulnerable oral soft tissues-gums, leading to oral diseases.

In reference to the study by Kings College, London, the British Dental Journal reported that persons using vapes on a regular basis showed signs of gum inflammation. This may also result in periodontal diseases. If this condition persists without any proper treatment, the person will loose teeth gradually.

Effects on Teeth

E-cigarettes comprise chemical base liquids like propylene glycol and nicotine. These chemicals cause dryness in the mouth. It reduces the production of saliva from salivary glands. Saliva plays a vital role in the protection of the teeth from cavities and helps in digestion. As a consequence of reduced saliva production, risk of teeth cavities is significantly high.

Risks of Vaping

Bruxism

Nicotine is also a potential muscle stimulant, which induces unnecessary contractions of the jaw muscles. This action mostly happens during sleep. As a result, the teeth surfaces get flattened.

Tooth Sensitivity

The uncontrolled tooth grinding and less production of saliva end up damaging the tooth enamel, resulting in higher sensitivity of teeth to hot or cold.

Plaque and calculus

Less production of saliva leads to improper cleaning of teeth, therefore, causing plaque and calculus deposition due to improper dental care.

Tooth cavity

The teeth get vulnerable because of vaping. The enamel thickness thins out with regular usage of vaping devices. With weak enamel and less immune gums, teeth get more prone to cavities.

Fact- ‍Teeth feel weird after vaping

Yes, vaping can ruin your teen’s smile after passing through the following harmful effects of vaping.

  • Gum disease
  • Tooth loss
  • Enamel thinning
  • Soft tissue damage
  • Teeth prone to infection
  • Bad breath

Chemicals in the vaping device

E-cigarettes contain some chemical components that lead to harmful effects of vaping. They are,

  • Nicotine
  • Formaldehyde(used in preserving dead bodies)
  • Arsenic(rat poisoning ingredient)
  • lead(causes stroke)

Conclusion

Vaping may be in trend, but not healthy with all the negative effects. It is always better to follow the proverb which says, ‘precaution is better than cure,’ to ensure safety against being exposed to harsh chemicals. In comparison with traditional smoking vaping may seem harmless, but in actuality, it is harmful and dangerous in its own way.
