Holidays are fun; for a number of reasons. You don’t need to go to work and wake up early and no usual drill.  Have food at any time you want and take a nap as you wish. When we talk about food holidays are a perfect excuse to knock off our usual weight loss diet plan and indulge in chocolates, cookies, cakes and lavish meals with mouth-watering desserts and wine. Isn’t it?  Imagine what all that sugar, fat and alcohol will do to your body and especially your skin. Don’t worry we have got your six. Here are some of the great skin remedies for holiday skin hangover. 

Skin Problems You May Face after Holiday Season

It is important to fall back to your routine healthy diet once after the holidays are over.  Diet and skincare go hand in hand. Without food correction, it is difficult to treat your holiday skin which is laden with impurities from inside to out.

Holiday Skin Cleansing

Every skin remedy starts with a procedure called cleansing.  It removes the oil, dirt, and grime) of the skin and provides a clean surface. 

Homemade Cleansing Recipe: 

Honey & turmeric pack.  Apply honey mixed with organic turmeric powder on the skin before taking a bath.  Leave it for 10 minutes. Wash it off by rubbing in circles. Turmeric is a natural antibiotic and honey leaves your skin moisturized.

Taking care of holiday skin is not enough just from outside.  It is essential to flush the toxins like preservatives, coloring and flavoring agents off your system by taking a detox flush after the holiday season is inevitable.  

Holiday Skin Exfoliation

Exfoliating your skin helps clean the pores.  It removes dead skin cells. Exfoliation is good for clogged pores, pigmentation, suntan and dark marks.  It also reduces the occurrence of blemishes as it cleanses the skin.

Homemade Exfoliation Recipe:

Your facial skin is different from your body’s skin. Hence it is better to use different scrubs for your face and body skin

For the Face and Neck: 

Mix coarsely ground oats with honey and almond oil.  Apply on face and scrub gently for 10 minutes before washing it off.

For Body: 

Add sea salt with olive oil.  Grind the salt to a coarse powder if the granules are larger. Apply and scrub your body for 10 minutes and then take a bath using a mild homemade soap. 

Holiday Skin Moisturizing

Moisturizing your skin is very important to prevent dryness of the skin after cleansing and exfoliation.  The regular moisturization helps your skin stay hydrated, soft and supple.

Homemade Moisturizer Recipe

Homemade Day Moisturizer:

Mix aloe vera gel with few drops of coconut oil and a drop of honey. It works well both on your body and face. 

Homemade Overnight Moisturizer:

Mix equal amount of almond, olive oils.  Add a few drops of essential oil of your choice. Mix them well together and store in a clean bottle. Take a few drops on your palm rub it well and apply on your skin before going to bed.

Holiday skin regimen needs special care and attention as the mindless eating and traveling can spoil both your body and skin. It is not only the skin that needs rejuvenation but also your digestive system to make the skin issues vanish. Cleanse your skin every day with natural ingredients available at home.  Don’t forget to exfoliate to remove stubborn dirt and dead skin cells.
