Healthy Foods and Misconceptions Before Storing in Fridge

When it comes to healthy food, we have misconceptions about what to eat and what not to eat. We sometimes also wonder if an item should be stored in the fridge or not, and if so, then for how long. In this blog, we will answer all these questions and also tell you the best ways to store items so that they are fresh for longer.

Some foods we can store in the fridge: 

Nuts

Nuts are a great source of proteins, fibers, and healthy fats. A study on food consumption says that eating more nuts helps gain healthy body weight and reduces the risk of certain health-related issues. Most types of nuts can be stored for a long time in the fridge.  

Fish and Meats

Fish and meat are rich sources of proteins and fatty acids, intake of fish and meat gives health benefits and helps muscle growth. Fish and meat can be stored in the freezer for longer periods in order to cook. 

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate is rich in nutrients that are good for your health. It can be stored in your freezer for at least four months.

Fruits and veggies

Fruits and vegetables can be stored in the freezer for a certain time.

Red wine

Red wine is made of a wide variety of dark grapes. According to studies, a glass of wine a day is a valuable part of a healthy diet. Consumption of Red wine helps in lowering the risk of several diseases like heart attacks. Red wine tastes best after aging, so we can store it for a few days in the fridge. It can be frozen too, and it is safe to drink it after thawing, but not recommended.

Eggs

Eggs are rich in proteins and can be stored in the fridge for a certain period of time.

Honey

Honey is one of the best alternatives to sugar. It contains fructose, which is considered a natural antibiotic. Honey can be stored for a long time in the fridge.

Some of the foods we should avoid keeping in the fridge:

Bread and Bananas

Bananas and bread are not good to refrigerate, they need warm temperatures. Refrigerating these items might spoil them.

Vegetables

Vegetables like onions and potatoes shouldn’t be stored in the refrigerator unless cut up. These vegetables need to be at room temperature storage to maintain their texture.
