5 Natural Foods That Lower Blood Sugar

Blood sugar is a killer disease if it is not controlled at the right levels. Eating certain foods can actually lower  your sugar levels. High blood sugar is like poison to our body. It can cause severe damage to our nerves, organs, blood vessels and generally speaking, our body as a whole. High blood sugar is known to increase rates of heart attacks, strokes and even blindness.

Never ignore your sugar levels and eat the right foods so that you can regulate it.

  • Avocados

Avocados are fattening. But they are a source of good fat. The good fat actually helps in slowly releasing the sugars in the blood stream instead of having an over release of sugars, thus requiring less insulin.

  • Cinnamon

Cinnamon helps in the making the liver and muscles to respond better to insulin. So since the organs are responding better to insulin, your body releases less insulin and thereby the body has a balanced blood sugar level. A 2013 research proved that cinnamon was responsible to reduce the fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides and “bad” LDL cholesterol, while raising “good” HDL cholesterol.

  • Fenugreek seeds

This spice has been consumed in India for ages, especially to control blood sugar. Simply leave these seeds to soak overnight in a glass of hot water and swallow them in the morning. Consumption of fenugreek seeds has proved to show a drastic fall in the blood sugar rates as it slows down the digestion of carbohydrates.

  • Apple cider vinegar

Vinegar has been found to blunt the blood sugar and increase the insulin in the body. It is said to reduce the sudden spike to sugar levels after consuming starchy foods in a meal, especially for those who are suffering from Type 2 diabetes. Thus having a cup full of vinegar drink will do wonders to maintain the levels of sugar in your blood.

  • Cherries and blue berries

Blueberries and cherries are full of anthrocyanin, also found in tea, coffee and nuts. You must be wondering what Anthrocyanin is. Well it the nutrients found in colorful food. Blueberries and cherries are the fruits that are the richest in this nutrient. What this nutrient actually does is that it increases the sensitivity of insulin along with slowing down the digestion process that prevents the blood sugar levels from spiking.

So eat your way out to reduce your spiking blood sugar levels. And the best part is that you are taking the aid of naturally available foods, or that is food given to us by nature.
