Applying these acidic solutions will improve the texture and appearance of the skin.

The pores on your skin remain the same except that it becomes less noticeable. Especially, salicylic acid reduces pimple scars and removes blackheads hence giving your skin a new look.

  1. You should be in hideout during the complete process.

As the name sounds, chemical peeling works by removing layers of your skin. This doesn’t mean that you are going to shed skin like a snake if you have been taught so about peeling its wrong.

Your skin starts to flake 2-3 days after applying the acidic solution. The flaking happens for around 4-5 days. Just schedule your treatment in a way that the time for flaking falls when you have 2-3 days off is all you have to do. By this time majority of flaking is done coming off yet you may still see flakes of skin peeling off which is very minimal. Using prescribed moisturizers or scrubs will remove these flakes and make your skin normal and smooth.

Chemical peeling is of three types called light, medium, and deep chemical peel. The effect depends on the type of peel you have been prescribed. Since the process is stressing more on chemicals, it isn’t harmful to your skin. Also, this treatment cannot be concluded as a pain-free one because pain tolerance differs for each person.

Light and medium peels work on the outermost layer of skin but deep chemical peel penetrates to the middle layer of the skin. Since the later penetrates deep into your skin, you might feel a burning sensation that sometimes is unbearable. To avoid such pain you will be sedated during the process.

Serious complications are very rare in chemical peeling when proper procedures are followed before and after the treatment.

Chemical peeling done at home or parlor without studying your skin or following certain protocols will put you and your skin in trouble. Following a pre-peel regime is important to make your skin ready for acidic solutions.

If your skin has an active infection, open wounds, keloid scarring, and undergoing other skin treatments then you should leave the idea of having chemical peeling. Only after studying your skin condition and skin issues you should step into chemical peeling.

  1. Chemical peeling is a one-time solution.

Doing chemical peeling once cannot fix your skin issues. At least 5 to 6 sitting of chemical peeling is required to see the skin the way you want it to be.
