1. Eat Healthy

Eating healthy foods is good for health. If you have diabetes, eating healthy is mandatory because it affects blood sugar levels. It includes how much you eat, what type of food you eat and the combination of food.

You must consume plenty of veggies, fruits, beans, lentils and, whole grains. You need to eat fat-free dairy and lean meats. You have to avoid sugar and fat-containing foods. You must keep a count on carb intake because carbohydrates will turn into sugar.

2. Physical Exercise

You should indulge in physical exercise which is good for health. During exercise, your muscles utilize the glucose for energy. Doing exercise will help your body use insulin more effectively. Do the exercise for 2 or more hours for moderate exercise and for intensive exercise a minimum of 1 hour is sufficient for a week.

Apart from physical activities, you can do activities like gardening; housework will improve the glucose level. You can even consult with a physician to find out what type of activity you can do. Type 2 diabetes is associated with being overweight if you do exercise it helps the body to utilize insulin.

3. Quit Smoking

Diabetes causes health problems such as eye diseases, heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blood vessels, and foot problems. If you have the habit of smoking, then there’s a risk of getting these diseases. So you need to quit it soon or else you can consult the physician.

4. Reduce Drinking Alcohol

If you have diabetes, you must quit drinking alcohol; it will decrease or increase your glucose level in the body because alcohol has a lot of calories. You may struggle to reduce excess weight. Alcohol also increases blood pressure. 

If you can’t quit completely then you can drink alcohol with your meal or mix liquor with club soda or water and drink it.

5. Get Check-Ups

Regular health check-ups are must though you follow a healthy diet and do physical activities. You must visit the doctor for an exam every 3 months  You must examine your weight, blood, and feet.
