COVID-19 Lockdown

Britain Advisors Warns “It’s Too Soon for the Lift of Lockdowns”

Many countries worldwide are thinking about easing the lockdown as the COVID-19 rate of infections decreases. But here is what the World Health Organisation (WHO) advises about the lift of lockdowns. The World Health Organisation said that rushing to ease the coronavirus lockdown will likely resurrect the viruses.

Dr. Takeshi Kasai, the WHO regional director for the Western Pacific, said that “This is not the time to be lax. Instead, we need to ready ourselves for a new way of living for the foreseeable future.”

But the British Prime Minister is under pressure to lift all lockdown restrictions in two and half months. The conservative party (Tories) called Boris Johnson to ease the limits by putting a complete end to controls by the end of April month. By that time, Britain’s scientific advisor sent a letter to the Prime Minister stating that Britain would face another COVID-19 wave if lockdown restrictions were lifted. The letter stated that

COVID is a serious disease and we must control it. However, just like COVID, lockdowns and restrictions cause immense social and health damage and have a huge impact on people’s livelihoods. The vaccine gives us immunity from COVID but it must also give us permanent immunity from COVID-related lockdowns and restrictions.

This should be a moment of unity – for our country and our party – as we look ahead with confidence, hope, and optimism for a much brighter future, as we reclaim our lives once and for all.”All restrictions remaining after March 8 should be proportionate to the ever-increasing number of people we have protected.

The burden is on ministers to demonstrate the evidence of effectiveness and proportionality with a cost-benefit analysis for each restriction, and a roadmap for when they will be removed.”

Professor Steven Riley, a member of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on modeling said that “No vaccine is perfect” and “We are certainly going to be in the situation where we can allow more infection in the community but there is a limit.

Despite concerns from the Britain advisor and COVID Recovery Group (CRG), Boris Johnson was determined to lift the lockdown as Britain’s vaccine has been made out. More than 13 million Britain people have received the first jab of the COVID-19 Vaccine. Among them, more than 90% of them were aged above 75 years.

Boris Johnson also insisted that opening schools were his highest priority followed by shops and hospitality. He said that he was confident that they would meet their target of getting a vaccine for all 15 million Britain people. Including Britain, other countries like Germany, China, and the United States have also been racing to find the vaccine and to lift the lockdowns.
