Vaginal yeast infections cause a lot of pain and discomfort. It often leads to vaginal itching, burning and pain. Some of these yeast infections cause a discharge as well.

Here are home remedies that will help you get rid of yeast infections:

  • Keep dry

When you suspect a vaginal infection always keep the area dry by wearing loose fitted underpants that permit the circulation of air.

  • Practice good hygiene

Keep the area clean. If there are any secretions, do clean the area using a mild unscented soap and wash off with water. Dry the area well after washing to prevent dampness from encouraging the growth of the infection.

It might be a good idea to wash your underpants with hot water to ensure that the infection doesn’t spread.

  • Do not use harsh or scented products

Harsh soaps and ones with fragrance in it disturb the pH balance of the vagina, encouraging the growth of yeast.  Douching with vinegar or yogurt might help restore the balance.

  • Probiotics or yogurt

The live culture in yogurt helps in restoring the pH balance in your vagina.  You can of course eat the yogurt but it is a better idea to douche in on your private parts.

If you do not want to use yogurt, you will get lactobacillus tablets that can be inserted vaginally till the problem disappears.

  • Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is a natural fungal cleaner. Apply liberally on a tampon and keep inserted in your vagina for a couple of hours.

  • Cranberries

The acidity levels in cranberries help in fighting off vaginal infections. They even have the properties to maintain the pH balance in your vagina.

  • Garlic

As much as this kitchen condiment stinks, the more it acts in a natural home remedy. Garlic is known to have natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal properties and even acts as a natural antibiotic.

Your mouth might stink but the properties in garlic will help get rid of the infection.

  • Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar will help clean the area of the infection. It will help restore the pH balance and get rid of all the irritation caused by the infection.

Douche the area with vinegar and help wash away all that itchiness, secretions and soreness you feel down there.

Of course apart from these natural home remedies you can always try over the counter drugs and ointments, but it is always better to see if they can disappear the natural way, without using any chemicals or taking drugs. And don’t forget to relax. Getting stressed will only make the condition worse.
